Peter Nichols's play for Greenwich Peter Nichols has writtcn his r.ew plav especially for the Greenwich Theatre. Called Forget-Me-Not Lante. it opens on April I with a preview on March 31. Mr. Nichols describes it as "a family comedy, a joUy rather than sad play ". An autobiographical work, it depicts a father-and-son relationship-with the line between fact and fiction perilouslv thin. Describing his father. Mr. Nichols says, "He comes alive-pathetic. pompous. likeable, nagging. mearingless. Real people don't, as a rule, mean-any- thing. Our lives make no sense. His didn't. But I'm trying." The director at Greer.ich is Michael Blakemore, now an asso- ciate director at the National Theatre, who directed the two other Nichols's plays-A Day in the Death of Joe Egg and The National Health. An-ton Rodgers is cast as Frank, wiith Michael Bates as Fr-ink's father ard Joan Hickson as Frank's mother. Priscilla Morgan plays Ursula. the other -feminine influ- ence in Frank's life.
