B.B.C. And Queen's Hall. The followilig statenment, disclosing that, after all, a season of promenade concerts at Queen's Hall is assured, was made by an official of the British Broadcasting Cor- poration last night:- " Ever since the possible suspension of the Queen's Hall promenade concerts was announced the Britislh Broadeasting Cor- poration has been anxious to do whatever was in its power, consistent with its wider obligations, to bring about an arrangement not only wvith regard to the promenade concerts, but also with regard to the larger issue of the Queen's Hall. Negotiations to this end have been in progress for some months. A number of proposals have been considered and abandoned. Ultimately. however, agreement has been reached between the British Broadcasting Corpora- tion and Messrs. Chappell. A six-weeks period of promenade concerts at the Queen's Hall, beginning on Saturdav, August 13, is to be given by the British Broadcasting Corporation u;nder the con- ductorship of Sir Henry W ood. The British Broadcasting Corporation is also to give 12 special symphony concerts at the Queen's Hall during next season. Moreover, the microphone is no longer banned from the Queen's Hall for other occasions." It will be noticed that no reference is made in the statement to the Queen's Hall Orchestra, but in this connexion it is understood that Sir Henriy Wood is makinig arrangements which will be made public shortly. So far as the orchestria and the soloists are ooncerned, for both the Promenades and the Symphony Concerts, there is to be the closest cooperation between Messrs. Chappell and the British Broad- casting Corporation. It is understood that Sir Henry Wood Will be able to draw very largely on the talent on whichi he has relied in the past, while receiving assist- ance from outside sources. B.B.C. AND QUEEN'S HALL. A SEASON OF PROMENADE CONCERTS.
