Missing Woman Novelist. A sectional search of 40 sqlare miles of country, and the possibility of a diver assisting in the work, are the latest phases of the search for Urs., Agatha Christie, the. novelist, who disappeared from her home at Sunningdale last Friday week. Her car was found aban- doned near Newlands Corner, and yesterday the Deputy Chief Constable of Surrey stated that he had not yet abandoned the idea that slhe would be found in that neighbourhood, 31r. Kenward explained that he vwas mapping oxut the whole area into sections, making a note of all the pools and ravines. The area was roughly about 40 square miles, and extended along the Downs from the neighbourhood of Newlands Corner to Banmore Common, near Dorking, and embracing Albury and Hurt- wood. Hle added that he had received an otYer from a London firm of a diver and equip- ment to search the pools, and that he should probably accept it. With regard to the question of volunteer searchers, Mlr. lenward said it would probably be as well for the police to have the ground to themselves for a day or two, but about 80 members of the Aldershot 31oror Cycling Club had offiered their services for Tuesday. Attempts yesterday to trace Miss Una Crowe, second daughter of Lady Crowe and the late Sir Eyre Crowe, who disappeared from ht-r home at 74, Elm Park-road, Chelsea, on tiaturday, proved unsuccessful. At Bedford College, Regent's Park, where she vas formerly a student, one of her friends yesterday said that 3Miss Crowe was extremely popular and a brilliant student. She was highly sensitive and the death of her father two years ago seriously affected her health, and she had not been able to attend the college since last session. Scotland Yard yesterday issued an official description of Miss Crowe,and requested that anyone who had seen a person during the week- end answering thereto should communicate with the nearest police station. Miss Crowe is described as a student, aged 20; 5ft. 4Lin. in beight; eyes grey; hair brown; round face; large mouth; slightly turned up nose; com- plexion fair; inclined to be pale; slight build - round sboulders; dressed in a brown pilot- cloth overcoat and brown fur collar, green hat, brown strap shoes, fawn stockings, blue serge frock, green silk scarf, and. underclothing muarked " Una R. Crowe." She was carrying a bag, eight inches by four, of yellow leather with a flap. The bag contained Chelsea Library receipts., it is understood that infornmation has reached the police that Mliss {Crowe posted a percel,to ,a' friend-on SaturdaY and the City P'olice are making inquiries. Yesterday after- noon the polce were making inquiries as the result of a statement by a taxi-cab rank attendant that on Saturday afternoon Niss C(rowe engaged a cab at a rank 300 yards from her house, but he did not know what destina- tion she gave the driver. It is understood, however, that he has been able to put the police in touch with the driver of the cab.
